Stanley County Combine Offices-Auditor, Treasurer, Register of Deeds: The Commission has been approached to change the elected offices of the County Auditor, County Treasurer and County Register of Deeds to be combined and that one person shall be elected. The new combined office would be known as the Stanley County Office of Finance and Records and the newly elected official would be known as the Stanley County Finance Officer. The existing elected officials’ titles would cease to exist at the end of the existing term or retirement. The Commission will set a first public reading for a later date. The public reading will open the floor for discussion to hear comments and concerns about the change.

Highway Department:  Lee Smith presented to the Commissioners a report of work performed by the Highway Department for the month of December, 2020, which consists of screen gravel at the Buffalo Pit, mowing, blading roads, replace culvert on Barrick Ranch Road, Bad River Road and Slaathaug Road, fill washout on Fluharty Road  and working on equipment.

Lee Smith stated that the highway department has screened 25,000 ton in 3 weeks with the rented screen. The Commission would like Lee to get more information regarding the rented screen and one other screen, including finance options.

Lee Smith informed the Commission that he would like to look for a motor for the dump/sander truck. It is set up the way that works for the highway department, and Lee isn’t having any luck finding another truck with the same, or similar set up, for a reasonable price.
